The Assistant to the General Counsel provides high-level administrative, organizational, and legal-support services to the General Counsel, who is based in Atlanta. Given the cross-border and time-zone nature of this role, the position is based in Manila and works in close coordination with the Manila-based Staff Attorney on legal administrative matters, ensuring seamless support across both offices.
This role is ideal for a law graduate or licensed attorney who is detail-oriented, discreet, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, cross-continental legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
Executive & Administrative Support (to General Counsel)
- Manage the General Counsel's calendar, meetings, and travel arrangements across time zones
- Coordinate and prepare materials for board meetings, executive sessions, and legal department meetings
- Draft, proofread, and format correspondence, memos, presentations, and reports
- Screen and prioritize emails, calls, and requests on behalf of the General Counsel
- Handle confidential and sensitive information with the highest level of discretion
- Track action items, deadlines, and follow-ups on behalf of the General Counsel
Legal & Administrative Coordination (dotted line to Staff Attorney)
- Assist with organizing, tracking, and maintaining contracts, corporate records, and legal files
- Support legal research requests and compile background materials as directed by the Staff Attorney
- Help coordinate outside counsel communications, invoices, and matter management under attorney guidance
- Maintain compliance calendars, filing deadlines, and document retention schedules
- Assist in preparing litigation holds, NDAs, and other routine legal documents (under attorney supervision)
Cross-Functional & Operational
- Serve as a liaison between the Atlanta legal office and Manila-based legal support team
- Coordinate scheduling and logistics across time zones for calls, meetings, and document turnaround
- Support special projects and process improvements for the legal department
- Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems for legal and administrative documents
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB/JD) or currently a licensed attorney (Philippine Bar); law graduates without bar passage will also be considered
- 2+ years of experience in an executive assistant, legal assistant, paralegal, or similar support role
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office / Google Workspace and calendar/scheduling tools
- Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate overlap with U.S. Eastern Time (Atlanta)
- High degree of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment in handling confidential matters
- Prior experience supporting C-suite executives or legal department leadership
- Familiarity with contract management systems or legal matter management software
- Experience working in a multinational or shared-services legal environment
- Paralegal certification or equivalent legal training
