Qualifications

Rig Mechanic / Equipment Operator (Drilling & Workover)

Job Summary / Objective

This position is responsible for operating and maintaining critical diesel and electric rig components to ensure continuous, uninterrupted drilling operations. Based on-site in Saudi Arabia, the role requires a highly adaptable technician capable of diagnosing mechanical equipment, reading technical blueprints, and leading a crew under remote field conditions.

Core Responsibilities

• Equipment Maintenance:Operate, service, and maintain diesel/electric rig components and related equipment, with a heavy focus on the Top Drive system.
• Operational Continuity:Apply a strong working knowledge of drilling operations to make informed recommendations and decisions that minimize rig downtime.
• Cross-Craft Support:Utilise a working knowledge of secondary crafts—including welding, pipefitting, crane operations, plumbing, and carpentry to support overall rig maintenance.
• Technical Interpretation:Read, interpret, and apply mechanical blueprints, equipment spare parts lists, and manufacturer service manuals.
• Crew Leadership:Supervise, motivate, train, and coordinate subordinates on the rig floor to ensure safe and efficient work practices.

Experience & Technical Skills

• Rig Experience:Minimum of two (2) yearsof direct experience in operating and maintaining diesel/electric rig components and related equipment (including Top Drive).
• Industry Knowledge:Deeply familiar with standard oilfield terminologyand general drilling operations.
• Blueprints & Manuals:Proven capability to read and understand mechanical blueprints, equipment spare parts catalogs, and service manuals.

Communication & Language

• English:Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
• Arabic:Colloquial Arabic is desirable but not required.

Licenses & Logistics

Living Conditions:Must be fully willing to work and live in isolated locations under drilling camp conditions.

Driving License:Must possess a valid Saudi driving licenseOR a Saudi Arab government-acceptable international driving license.
