Qualifications

• BS degree or equivalent in HSE, industrial hygiene, environmental science, or related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years in drilling industry with safety/drilling experience preferred or five (5) years HSE experience in heavy industry.
• Toxic environment experience: must have 12+ months in H2S environment in a safety role.
• Technical knowledge in health, safety, and environmental standards and compliance.
• Certifications: NEBOSH or equivalent, RCA team leader, PTW/LOTO, fall protection and confined space training.

Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on safety training for all rig crew levels.

Job Summary / Objective

The Rig HSE Coordinator designs, implements, and oversees comprehensive health, safety, and environmental programs across drilling operations. This role focuses on mitigating industrial hazards, managing safety compliance within toxic gas zones, and delivering hands-on emergency preparedness training to a diverse workforce.

Core Responsibilities

• Execute HSE Programs:Assist with developing, implementing, and coordinating robust health, safety, and environmental programs across the rig site.


• Deliver Hands-On Training:Author and deliver comprehensive, interactive safety presentations, training modules, and field exercises for all rig crew levels.


• Lead Incident Investigations:Act as Team Leader for incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to map out corrective field actions.


• Manage Critical Hazard Systems:Enforce specialized field protocols including permit to work systems, lockout/tagout (LOTO) verification, fall protection standards, and confined space entry safety.


• Coordinate Safety Committees:Lead and direct multi-disciplinary safety teams, committees, and occupational health working groups.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

• Education:BS degree or equivalent in HSE, industrial hygiene, environmental science, or a related field is preferred from an accredited university recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education.


• Experience:Must fulfill one of the following experience structures:
  
  
  
  • Minimum of five (5) years in the drilling industry (with concurrent safety/drilling experience preferred).
  
  
  • Minimum of five (5) years of HSE experience in an alternative heavy industry.
  
  
  
  


• Toxic Environment Experience:Must have been actively employed in a dedicated safety role within an H2S environment for an absolute minimum of twelve (12) months.


• Technical Knowledge & Standards:Deeply skilled in the standards, concepts, practices, and procedures within the health, safety, and environmental fields. Must have knowledge or training in occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance with applied industry, governmental, and/or international standards.


• Certifications & Training Profiles:Must possess formal qualification or training documentation across the following:
  
  
  
  • Safety Qualification:Internationally recognized Safety Professional qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Health & Safety or equivalent; as a minimum, a NEBOSH certificate in general safety or equivalent).
  
  
  • Investigation:Incident investigation / Root Cause Analysis Team Leader certification.
  
  
  • Fall Protection:Formal fall protection training (Fall Protection Instructor status preferred).
  
  
  • Confined Space:Formal confined space entry training (Confined Space Entry Instructor status preferred).
  
  
  • Rig Systems:Formal Permit to Work (PTW) training and formal Lockout / Tagout (LOTO) training.
  
  
  
  


• Communication & Software:Strong verbal and written communication skills (tailored for training, presentations, and report writing). Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work at all organization levels within a diverse work group.
