Mō te tūranga | About the role
In this role you will build and manage a comprehensive inventory and tracking system for IT software and hardware assets within the Department. From acquisition to disposal, you will manage the entire asset management lifecycle, you will be forward thinking and be able to use your initiative to enhance our asset management processes. This is a great opportunity to grow your expertise and expand your career in meaningful mahi!

In this role you will:

  • Establish and maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all IT software and hardware assets owned by the department.
  • Implement and manage a system for tracking the movement and utilisation of IT assets.
  • Monitor asset allocation usage and availability to ensure efficient resource utilisation.
  • Coordinate the procurement process for new IT assets including gathering requirements obtaining quotes and facilitating purchase orders.
  • Track software licences, renewals and compliance to ensure adherence to licensing agreements and avoid any legal or financial risks.
  • Maintain accurate records of software licence agreements terms and conditions.
  • Analyse asset data and generate reports on asset utilisation, age, performance and cost.

  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and work well with a range of people including IT teams, procurement staff, vendors, and end users.
  • A strong understanding of asset management principles, practices, and methodologies, particularly in the context of IT software and hardware assets.
  • Proficiency in IT hardware and software components, including knowledge of different types of IT assets, their specifications, functionalities and compatibility considerations.
  • Strong data management skills to accurately collect, organise and analyse asset related data.
  • Ability to interpret data, identify trends and generate meaningful reports and insights.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement of asset management processes and procedures.
