Job summary

Department of Conservation in Invercargill, Christchurch or Nelson is seeking a Customer Service Centre Agent to handle public queries by phone and email, directing callers to the right team across the organisation.

You will work Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, enjoy weekends off, and benefit from training, career development, and flexible working arrangements. A strong phone manner, composure under pressure, and solid Microsoft Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent phone manners and ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Able to prioritise a variety of tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication for customer inquiries.
• Experience in a call centre or frontline customer service is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Answer public queries by phone and email and provide accurate information.
• Direct callers to the appropriate team across the Department of Conservation.
• Escalate or route pages related to compliance or operations as needed.
• Support a Monday–Friday schedule with standard 8:00–17:00 hours and strong work-life balance.
