Job summary

Tile Centre Southland in Invercargill is seeking a hands-on Trade Sales specialist to become the primary contact for our trade customers. You will nurture relationships with tilers and builders, manage orders, freight, and showroom displays, and contribute to the growth of our tile and flooring business.

You will work closely with our director and the team, leveraging your experience in flooring products to quote straightforward jobs and support installation knowledge.

Qualifications

• Experience in flooring or building products preferred.

• Organised and accurate with orders and paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with tilers, builders and trade customers.

Your primary focus will be trade sales and development. You'll become a key point of contact for our trade customers, building strong relationships with existing clients while actively looking for opportunities to develop new business. You'll take responsibility for the practical day to day functions that keep the trade side of our business moving, including freight, inwards goods and customer orders. You'll work closely with Greg, our Director and highly experienced tiler, which provides a great opportunity to further develop your technical and installation knowledge. For someone with the right experience and aptitude, there will be scope to progressively assist with straightforward installation enquiries and basic job quoting, including gathering plans and measurements, calculating basic requirements and preparing straightforward quotes using established systems and pricing.

Key responsibilities

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with tilers, builders and other trade customers
• Actively developing new trade business and sales opportunities
• Following up enquiries, quotes, leads and upcoming projects
• Becoming a trusted point of contact for trade clients
• Taking ownership of trade showroom, displays and product offering
• Providing product advice and trade sales support
• Processing trade sales and customer orders
• Receiving, checking and processing incoming freight and inwards goods
• Identifying and following up freight discrepancies or damage
• Organising customer orders ready for collection

About you

• Previous flooring industry experience and knowledge is highly desirable
• Experience in tiles, flooring, carpet, hard flooring, building products or similar trade-based industries
• Understands the flooring or building-products environment
• Strong trade sales and customer service experience
• Confident building relationships with tradespeople and industry professionals
• Good commercial instincts and enjoys developing sales
• Proactive and follows things through without needing to be chased
• Organized and accurate with orders and paperwork
• Comfortable working with POS, ordering and quoting systems
• Comfortable with the physical aspects of the job, including handling boxes of tiles and assisting with freight and customer collections
