Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

About the organisation

Our client is an established community based disability support provider operating across the North Island. Their focus is simple but important - supporting disabled people to live the lives they choose, within their own communities. Values-led and people-focused, they are passionate about delivering genuinely person-centred services and building capable, well-supported teams.

About the Job

Based in New Plymouth, you'll lead two 24/7 residential services. The people supported, and their needs, are different, but the goal is the same: high-quality, person-centred support that enables people to live the lives they choose.

Responsibilities
  • Leading, coaching and developing frontline teams, creating a culture where Support Workers feel safe, valued and confident, while managing performance, recruitment and development.
  • Overseeing daily service delivery, including rosters, staffing, resources, incidents, risk, health and safety and quality requirements.
  • Building strong relationships with the people supported, family/whānau, NASC, clinical teams, funders and community partners.
  • Working alongside the General Manager to ensure services meet contractual and legislative requirements while identifying opportunities to strengthen and grow services.
Who are we looking for?

We'd like to hear from people who bring:

  • Experience within disability, health, mental health or social services
  • Leadership experience with frontline or community-based teams
  • Confidence working around complex needs and behaviours
  • Strong coaching, mentoring and people-management capability
  • Experience managing performance and navigating challenging conversations
  • The ability to build constructive relationships with family/whānau while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
  • Confidence working with external stakeholders and navigating the wider disability support system
  • Sound judgement, resilience and the ability to remain calm when situations become complex
  • A genuine commitment to the rights, choice and independence of disabled people.
  • Appropriate Police and Oranga Tamariki clearances (or ability to gain)
  • A full driver's licence.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (minimum Level 7) e.g. bachelors in management, nursing, social services, psychology etc
Don't tick every box? We'd still like to hear from you.

Our client recognises that the right person may not come with every piece of experience already in place. You could be an experienced disability leader, a Team Leader ready for greater responsibility, or someone from an adjacent health or social service environment with strong transferable experience. What you will need is drive, curiosity, compassion and a willingness to learn. You'll be an advocate, a problem solver and someone prepared to step in when your team needs you.

What's on offer?

Alongside genuinely meaningful work, our client offers:

  • Salary of $80,000-$110,000, depending on experience
  • Five weeks' annual leave
  • Monday - Friday business hours
  • A shared after hours and weekend on call roster approximately once every couple of months
  • Support from an experienced local Service Delivery Manager
  • Access to specialist HR, quality and organisational support
  • Relocation assistance of up to $10,000 for the right candidate
  • An opportunity to help strengthen and grow disability services in Taranaki.
