Job summary

Medcall Health Personnel in Hamilton, North Island, is seeking a House Leader to provide person-centred support in a residential disability setting. You will lead a team, support daily living, and promote independence, dignity, and wellbeing while building strong relationships with clients and whānau.

The role runs Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, at an hourly rate of $31.70. Applicants with PBS knowledge and care leadership experience are encouraged to apply, with training and development offered.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Support Worker or Caregiver in residential or community settings.
  • Ability to work across a 24/7 roster, including weekends.
  • Current NZ Driver Licence.
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand.
  • Ability to pass Police Vetting check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care, daily living support, and household tasks.

As a House Lead, you'll also provide leadership and guidance to the team by supporting staff development, rostering, training, household administration, and ensuring quality service delivery. You will have experience applying Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) principles in practice. While formal PBS training or completion of a recognised PBS programme is preferred, we welcome applicants who can demonstrate strong PBS knowledge and experience.

  • Providing coaching, mentoring, and support to team members.
  • Assisting with rostering and shift coverage.
  • Supporting staff onboarding and training.
  • Managing household budgets, petty cash, and administrative tasks.
  • Working closely with the Residential Manager to ensure effective service delivery.

Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Support Worker or Caregiver in a residential or community setting.
  • Experience with challenging behaviours
  • Availability to work across a 24/7 roster, including weekends.
  • Current Full New Zealand Driver Licence.
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand.
  • Ability to pass a Police Vetting check.
  • Completed Health and Wellbeing Level 4 qualification (or equivalent).
