Job summary

Compressed Air Controls Napier is seeking a hands-on technician to install, service, maintain, diagnose, and repair compressed air and pneumatic equipment across customer sites and our workshop network. You’ll work independently and with a service team, supporting customers in the Lower North Island and traveling as required.

The role requires a trade qualification in a relevant discipline, strong hands-on technical skills, and the ability to communicate clearly with customers and colleagues.

Qualifications

• A trade qualification in mechanical, electrical, engineering, automotive, maintenance, or a related field.
• Strong hands-on technical skills and experience in a technical service environment.
• Willingness to travel across the Lower North Island and work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service, repair, and diagnose compressed air and pneumatic equipment at customer sites and in the workshop.
• Plan and perform preventative maintenance using manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
• Travel across the Lower North Island to support customer needs and liaise with coordinators on site issues.

Compressed Air Controls - Napier City, North Island

This is a hands-on technical role responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of compressed air and pneumatic equipment across customer sites and our workshop network. You will work both independently and as part of a wider service team, supporting customers across the Lower North Island. Depending on your location, work may be allocated across Wellington, Manawatu/Wanganui, Ruapehu Hawke's Bay, and other customer sites throughout the territory. This means the role requires flexibility, good planning, sound communication, and a willingness to travel where required to support customer needs.

Key responsibilities

• Inspecting, servicing, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting compressor, blower, vacuum, nitrogen and pneumatic equipment at customer sites.
• Carrying out preventative maintenance and diagnostic work using technical knowledge, service manuals, schematics, diagnostic instruments, and hand tools.
• Interpreting pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical drawings for new builds, installations, and diagnostic repairs.
• Carrying out assigned work independently on customer sites and in the workshop.
• Travelling across the Lower North Island service territory as required to support customer needs.
• Liaising with the Service Coordinator and management team on site issues, job progress, parts requirements, and customer needs.
• Supporting colleagues and contributing positively to the success of the wider team.
• Responding to technical enquiries from customers and colleagues, either directly or by assisting with specialist technical input.
• Complying with site inductions, customer requirements, and health and safety obligations at all times.
• Building and maintaining strong customer relationships through professional, courteous, and helpful communication.

About you

• A trade qualification in mechanical, electrical, engineering, automotive, maintenance, fitting, or another relevant technical discipline.
• Strong hands-on technical skills.
• Experience in a technical service, maintenance, diagnostics, or industrial support environment.
• Compressor, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, or rotating equipment experience, which would be an advantage.
• A valid New Zealand driver licence.
• The ability and willingness to travel across the Lower North Island as required.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• The ability to work independently and take initiative.
• A willingness to keep learning and develop further technical capability.
