Job summary

Serko is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to shape and scale our data platform in Auckland. You will work on ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and data quality to deliver reliable data solutions that support cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities include designing scalable data pipelines for batch and streaming workloads, modelling data with dbt, and managing Snowflake/BigQuery warehouses while ensuring governance, security, and observability across the platform.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of data warehouse, data lake, and modern data engineering.
• Experience in agile development and DevOps culture.
• Hands-on expertise with Snowflake (or equivalent cloud DWH).
• Advanced skills in SQL and dbt.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Architects and Engineers to design scalable data solutions.
• Build, maintain, and optimise data pipelines across batch and streaming workloads.
• Coordinate with Platform, Architecture, and Security teams for performant, secure data platforms.
• Develop robust data models using dbt and orchestrate workflows in cloud environments.
• Manage and enhance cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake and BigQuery.
• Ensure data governance, observability, and security practices.
