Job summary

Whānau Āwhina Plunket seeks an experienced Senior Data Engineer to lead our Data and Insights team. You will own data warehouses, dashboards and data products, working in Azure Databricks, Delta Lake and Power BI to deliver trusted reporting and decision support.

You will provide hands-on engineering with technical leadership, setting standards for pipelines, testing, deployment and operations, collaborating across the organisation to convert complex needs into practical data solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data engineering experience
• Experience building data warehouses and data products
• Strong SQL and Python skills

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain data pipelines across raw to semantic layers using Azure Databricks, Delta Lake and PySpark.
• Design medallion architecture patterns and semantic datasets for BI reporting.
• Develop, maintain and improve ETL processes and tools.
• Monitor pipeline performance and validate outputs against business rules.
• Implement data quality, lineage, access controls and testing practices.
• Build reports and dashboards and automate repeatable data requests.
• Contribute to CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code across Databricks and Azure.
• Provide technical guidance and code reviews across the team.
