Job summary

Synechron is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in Auckland to lead data migration, ETL/ELT development, and data warehousing initiatives. You will design scalable pipelines, optimize performance, and ensure data quality across large enterprise datasets.

You will collaborate with architects, DBAs, analysts, and developers to deliver end-to-end data solutions within modern cloud and on-prem environments. Strong SQL, modeling, and governance experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years in data engineering roles.
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills.
• Proven experience with data migration projects.
• Experience with ETL/ELT frameworks and data warehousing concepts.
• Ability to work with large-scale data in enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end data migration projects, including source analysis and cutover support.
• Design and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using enterprise tools.
• Build enterprise data warehouse and data mart solutions for analytics.
• Analyze legacy systems and define migration strategies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Develop source-to-target mappings and migration documentation.
• Ensure data quality and reconciliation across processes.
• Optimize ETL jobs and database performance for large data loads.
• Support testing activities including UAT and production validations.
• Promote best practices in governance and release management.
• Mentor junior data engineers and provide technical leadership.
