Job summary

dataengine, based in Auckland or Wellington, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer with deep expertise in Snowflake and dbt to help clients build modern, scalable data platforms.

You'll design, implement, and optimise data architectures, lead workshops with stakeholders, and deliver production-grade analytics solutions across multiple engagements.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or Data Architecture.
• Significant hands-on experience with Snowflake and dbt in production environments.
• Advanced Snowflake capability across architecture, security, governance, data sharing, performance tuning, and workload optimisation.
• Strong SQL, data modelling, and modern analytics architecture expertise.
• Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, Databricks or similar cloud data technologies.

• Lead Snowflake and dbt implementations and optimisation initiatives.

We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer with strong consulting capability and deep expertise in Snowflake and dbt to help our clients build modern, scalable data platforms.

What You'll Bring

• 8+ years' experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or Data Architecture.
• Significant proven hands-on experience with Snowflake and dbt in production environments.
• Advanced Snowflake capability across architecture, security, governance, data sharing, performance tuning, and workload optimisation
• Strong experience developing dbt transformations, models, macros, testing frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines
• Proven delivery of enterprise-scale cloud data platforms from design through to production support
• Strong SQL, data modelling, and modern analytics architecture expertise
• Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, or similar cloud data technologies
• Strong consulting, communication, and stakeholder-management skills
• Experience leading business and technical workshops
• The ability to work across multiple clients and engagements
• Must be based in Auckland or Wellington, with the flexibility to visit client sites when required
