Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Civil Structural Engineer for a Queenstown-based role focusing on the design and analysis of buildings, from concept to construction. You will ensure safety, stability, and code-compliant solutions, collaborating with architects and contractors.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree, ECSA registration, and 5–7 years of building-structure experience, with proficiency in STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
• Professional registration with ECSA as Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng is required.
• 5–7 years of experience in structural design of buildings.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ETABS) and AutoCAD.
• Strong knowledge of concrete, steel, and timber design principles.
• Familiarity with South African building codes and standards.
• Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for building structures including foundations, columns, beams, slabs, and roofs.
• Prepare detailed structural drawings, calculations, and specifications using CAD tools.
• Ensure designs comply with NBR and SANS.
• Review architectural plans to identify structural requirements and challenges.
• Liaise with architects, contractors, and clients on design proposals.
• Conduct site inspections during construction to monitor progress.
• Provide technical support to on-site construction teams.
• Contribute to project proposals and tender documents.
