Job summary

Ara Poutama Aotearoa – Department of Corrections is seeking a fixed-term Assistant Resident Supervisor at Spring Hill Corrections Facility in Te Kauwhata. The role supports residents with high and complex needs, reporting to the Residential Services Manager.

The position involves 12-hour shifts, including nights and weekends, with duties to supervise, mentor and promote safe reintegration while modelling pro-social behaviour.

Qualifications

• Full New Zealand driver licence with ability to drive a manual vehicle.
• Sound MS Office knowledge and general computer skills.
• Experience working in a residential care environment or with people with complex needs.
• Proactive contribution to Corrections initiatives.
• Integrity and the courage to do the right thing under pressure.
• Ability to maintain clear and professional boundaries.
• Calm, composed approach to de-escalation of challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise residents and support reintegrative goals.
• Mentor and supervise residents throughout their journey.
