Job summary

Ara Poutama Aotearoa - Department of Corrections in Te Kauwhata is seeking an Assistant Resident Supervisor on a fixed-term basis to 30 June 2027. The role supports residents with high and complex needs, supervising 12-hour shifts including nights, weekends, and public holidays.

You will mentor residents, assist reintegration activities, and contribute to public safety through pro-social, boundary-driven supervision. A NZ driver licence with manual capability and MS Office skills are required.

Qualifications

• Full New Zealand driver licence with ability to drive a manual vehicle.
• Sound MS Office knowledge and general computer skills.
• Experience in a residential care environment or with people with complex needs.
• Proactive contribution to Corrections initiatives and values.
• Ability to maintain clear, professional boundaries and de-escalate challenging situations.
• Alignment with Hokai Rangi strategy and organisational values.

Responsibilities

• Supervise residents and mentor them to support reintegrative goals.
• Support residents during community outings to promote public safety.
