Job summary

Placements24 is assisting a prominent agribusiness in Queenstown (remote role) to recruit a Junior Buyer to join the procurement team. You will learn procurement processes, assist with sourcing agricultural inputs, and support suppliers and internal teams to ensure smooth operations.

This entry-level position offers exposure to sourcing, PO processing, supplier management and market research within a dynamic agricultural supply chain, with occasional site visits to the Queenstown area.

Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Agriculture, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field.
• Previous experience in purchasing or administrative support is advantageous but not essential.
• Strong interest in the agricultural sector and its supply chain dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Assist in sourcing and identifying potential suppliers for agricultural inputs, machinery parts, and operational supplies.
• Support the negotiation process by gathering quotes and market information.
• Prepare and process purchase orders accurately in the procurement system.
• Maintain up-to-date records of supplier information, pricing, and purchase orders.
• Monitor order status and follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
• Collaborate with internal departments to understand their procurement needs.
• Conduct basic market research on commodity prices and supplier availability.
• Assist in evaluating supplier performance based on established criteria.
• Learn and adhere to company procurement policies and procedures.
• Help resolve minor discrepancies or issues related to orders and deliveries.
