Job summary

HealthForce NZ in Auckland is seeking an experienced Practice Manager to lead the operations and ongoing development of a busy general practice in Northwest/West Auckland. You will focus on leadership, strategy and operational oversight to deliver outstanding patient care.

Working with Directors and a capable clinical/administrative team, you will drive continuous improvement, manage recruitment and finances, and build strong relationships with stakeholders to support growth.

Job description

Practice Manager - 40 hours per week

Experience within New Zealand primary healthcare, including knowledge of general practice funding models, accreditation programmes and practice management systems, would be advantageous, but applications are welcomed from candidates with leadership experience gained in other healthcare or complex service environments.

We are seeking an experienced and people-focused Practice Manager to lead the operations and ongoing development of a well-established and busy general practice in Northwest / West Auckland. This is a senior leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys leading people, improving systems and processes, and contributing to the success of a healthcare organisation.

Working closely with the Practice Directors, you will provide strong leadership across the business while ensuring the team has the support, structure and resources required to deliver exceptional patient care. You will be supported by an experienced clinical and administrative team, including dedicated administrative support, enabling you to focus on leadership, strategy and operational oversight.

About the role
  • Providing leadership and direction to a multidisciplinary team
  • Building and maintaining a positive, respectful and high-performing workplace culture

  • Delegating operational tasks appropriately while maintaining overall accountability and oversight
About you
  • Previous experience in practice management, healthcare management, or a similar senior leadership role
  • Strong people leadership and HR management capability
  • Experience managing performance and navigating complex workplace situations
  • Well-developed financial and commercial acumen
  • Excellent organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to build effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • A collaborative, calm and solutions-focused leadership style
  • Sound judgement and decision-making capability
  • Experience leading change and implementing process improvements
