Job summary

Paper Plus Rotorua Central is seeking an energetic Retail Assistant to join our busy store. You’ll help customers find books and gifts, assist with Lotto, NZ Post and banking services, and ensure a great shopping experience in a fast-paced environment.

This role averages 28 hours per week, with a pattern of 4 days most weeks and 5 days over a rotating two-week period; weekend shifts are required, with Saturdays rostered and Sundays off. Training provided.

• Strong customer service skills and a friendly, helpful attitude.
• Ability to assist customers with product enquiries and merchandising.
• Accurate cash handling and till operations.

We are looking for an energetic and reliable Retail Assistant to join our team at our busy Paper Plus Rotorua Central store.

This is a fast-paced and varied role where no two days are the same. You’ll be working not only across our retail store, but also within our service areas including Lotto, New Zealand Post, and Kiwibank.

About the Role
As part of our team, you’ll provide excellent customer service while supporting a wide range of in-store functions. From helping customers find the perfect book or gift, to assisting with postal, banking, and Lotto services, you’ll play an important role in delivering a great customer experience.

The role averages 28 hours per week (most weeks this means 4 days but on 2 weeks over an 8 week period it is 5 days) with the opportunity to pick up additional shifts, weekend work is required, with the role currently rostered to work Saturdays but not Sundays.

What You’ll Be Doing

Assisting with retail sales, product enquiries, and merchandising

Operating tills and handling cash transactions accurately

Supporting Lotto, New Zealand Post, and Kiwibank services (training provided)

Maintaining high store presentation standards

Working efficiently in a busy, fast-paced environment
