Job summary

Best Bargain Ltd is seeking a motivated Casual Retail Assistant to join our small, supportive team in New Zealand. You will help with day-to-day store operations, serve customers, handle payments, restock shelves and keep the store tidy.

Prior retail or customer service experience is helpful but not essential. Casual, flexible hours are offered with potential progression to permanent part-time or full-time for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer-facing retail roles is preferred but not essential.
• Reliable and punctual with a friendly, positive attitude.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
• Physically capable of standing for long periods and light lifting.

Responsibilities

• Serve customers and provide friendly, helpful service.
• Operate the till and handle cash/card payments.
• Restock shelves and maintain product displays.
• Keep the store clean, tidy and well organised.
• Assist customers with enquiries and product selection.
• Receive and unpack stock deliveries.
• Perform general store duties as required.

About the Role:

You will assist with the day-to-day running of the store, including:

• Serving customers and providing excellent customer service

• Operating the till and handling cash/card payments

• Restocking shelves and maintaining product displays

• Keeping the store clean, tidy, and well organised

• Assisting customers with enquiries and product selection

• Receiving and unpacking stock deliveries

• General store duties as required

What We’re Looking For:

• Friendly, positive, and approachable attitude

• Reliable and punctual

• Good communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Honest and trustworthy

• Physically fit and able to be on your feet during shifts

• Previous retail or customer service experience preferred but not essential
