Job summary

Bidfood Waipapa is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our warehouse, dispatch, and distribution operations. You will build high-performing teams, drive continuous improvement, and ensure safe, efficient service to customers across the branch.

Working with the GM and HOD team, you will optimise systems, monitor KPIs, and balance customer expectations with operational efficiency. This hands-on leadership role requires strong people leadership and a proactive approach to change.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee warehouse, dispatch, and distribution operations.
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement across all operational functions.
• Develop and improve systems, reporting, and processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Monitor and manage operational performance through key performance indicators.
• Ensure resources, equipment, and staffing levels support business requirements.
• Lead, coach, and develop warehouse, dispatch, and supervisory teams.
• Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performance culture.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and succession planning.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and development discussions.
• Empower department leaders to achieve exceptional standards of professionalism and customer service.
• Ensure customer orders are picked, loaded, and delivered accurately and on time.
• Review delivery runs and logistics performance to maximise efficiency while maintaining service standards.
• Work closely with sales, procurement, and administration teams to achieve branch objectives.
• Drive operational decisions that improve customer satisfaction and business outcomes.
• Champion a strong health and safety culture across all operations.
• Ensure compliance with all company health and safety requirements.
• Lead food safety standards and continuous compliance initiatives.
• Maintain safe, compliant, and efficient facilities, equipment, and fleet operations.

About the Role

As Operations Manager, you will oversee all warehouse and distribution activities across the branch 24/6. Your focus will be on leading teams, improving systems and processes, driving operational performance, and ensuring our customers receive the high level of service Bidfood is known for.

This is a hands-on leadership position that requires strong operational knowledge, excellent people leadership skills, and the ability to balance customer expectations with operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership
