Job summary

Bidfood Waipapa is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our warehouse, dispatch, and distribution activities. This hands-on leadership role focuses on building high-performing teams and driving continuous improvement to deliver outstanding customer service.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will optimize systems, supervise staff, manage safety and food safety compliance, and work closely with sales and procurement to meet branch objectives.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in warehousing, logistics, transport, distribution, or supply chain operations.
• Strong experience managing teams and developing people.
• A track record of improving operational performance and implementing change.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee warehouse, dispatch, and distribution operations.
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement across all operational functions.
• Develop and improve systems, reporting, and processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Monitor and manage operational performance through key performance indicators.
• Ensure resources, equipment, and staffing levels support business requirements.
• Lead, coach, and develop warehouse, dispatch, and supervisory teams.
• Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performance culture.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and succession planning.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and development discussions.
• Empower department leaders to achieve exceptional standards of professionalism and customer service.
• Ensure customer orders are picked, loaded, and delivered accurately and on time.
• Review delivery runs and logistics performance to maximise efficiency while maintaining service standards.
• Work closely with sales, procurement, and administration teams to achieve branch objectives.
• Drive operational decisions that improve customer satisfaction and business outcomes.
