Tahatai Coast School is seeking an enthusiastic, relational Learning Support Coordinator with strengths in behaviour, regulation and inclusive learning support.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference for tamariki by strengthening teacher capability, coordinating effective support and helping learners experience success, belonging and participation at school.

Working alongside our Assistant Principal/SENCO, you will coordinate support for prioritised learners across the school. You will collaborate with teachers, learners and whānau to identify needs early, develop practical responses and monitor progress.

This is a classroom-released position; however, you may work with learners in classrooms, including learners receiving ORS support.

What you’ll be doing
  • Identifying learning, behaviour, regulation and participation needs through observations, data and conversations.
  • Working alongside teachers to develop practical classroom strategies and targeted support.
  • Supporting the development, implementation and review of IEPs, Individual Behaviour Plans, Individual Regulation Plans, Safety and Behaviour Support Plans, and Targeted Intervention Plans.
  • Coordinating support for ORS-funded learners, meetings, referrals, transitions and communication with whānau and agencies.
  • Coaching teachers and teacher aides to implement plans consistently.
  • Monitoring learner progress and reporting emerging needs to the Assistant Principal/SENCO.
  • Strengthening inclusive practice through observation, modelling, coaching and collaborative planning.
  • Maintaining accurate learning-support records.
We’re looking for someone who is

relational, solution-focused, organised and confident supporting diverse learners, particularly those with complex behaviour and regulation needs. You will understand behaviour as communication and work effectively with teachers, teacher aides, leaders, whānau and external agencies.

You will be committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and practices that value te ao Māori, tikanga Māori, te reo Māori, and every learner’s identity, language and culture.

Applicants must hold current New Zealand teacher registration and a practising certificate.

The successful applicant will join us at the start of Term 1, 2027.
