We are seeking an empathetic, collaborative, and highly capable Learning Support Coordinator (LSC) to join our school. A management unit can be discussed depending on the expertise of the candidate.

As our LSC, you will work closely with our teachers, learning assistants, whānau, and external specialist agencies to ensure that students with additional learning needs receives the targeted support, resources, and inclusive classroom environment they need to thrive. The role will be 0.8 LSC and 0.2 releasing teachers. The way this time is distributed in the week will be discussed.

Key responsibilities

• Student Advocacy & Planning: Identify students with learning support needs, develop and monitor tailored Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), and evaluate progress.
• Collaboration & Liaison: Work with classroom teachers, parents/whānau, and external specialists (e.g., Ministry of Education, speech-language therapists, occupational therapists).
• Building Capability: Support classroom teachers with inclusive pedagogy, differentiated learning strategies, and effective classroom adaptations.
• Resource Management: Coordinate our team of Learning Assistants to ensure targeted, high-impact support across the school.
• Transition Support: Support smooth transitions for students moving into our school, between year levels, and transitioning out.

We are looking for an experienced teacher who:

• Holds a current New Zealand Practising Certificate.
• Has a strong track record of successful teaching and inclusive classroom practices.
• Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to build positive, trusting relationships with students, whānau, and staff.
• Brings strong organisational skills and experience navigating learning support systems and funding pathways.
• Possesses a deep commitment to equity, culturally responsive practice, and upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
