Job summary

Datacom is seeking a Knowledge Specialist for a 6-month fixed-term contract in New Zealand. You will manage and refine the knowledge base, author high-quality technical docs, and collaborate with Development Specialists to ensure accurate, accessible information aligned with contractual requirements.

You will contribute to knowledge management frameworks, information architecture, and content standards while supporting a hybrid work model and government-security clearances as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in technical writing or knowledge management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technology or related discipline.
• Knowledge of IT services and infrastructure project requirements.
• Strong writing skills to create clear, user-friendly resources.
• Able to communicate technical concepts to varied audiences.

Responsibilities

• Maintain internal knowledge base for a specific functional area.
• Write, edit and refine technical documentation including manuals and install guides.
• Review contributions to ensure unified, consistent material.
• Analyze program outlines to develop high-quality manuals.
• Ensure contractual support and documentation requirements are met.
• Improve content templates and authoring style guides.
• Manage user roles and permissions for information access.
• Develop information architecture and taxonomy structures.
• Coordinate search tuning, taxonomy, and dictionary maintenance.
• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks.
• Support health and safety culture in line with policy.
