Job description

Bring your heart, your excellence, and your commitment to people into this Executive Assistant role supporting our Deputy Chief Executive at Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Te Rangi. This is mahi that serves our whānau — and it goes well beyond keeping a calendar tidy.

Our previous EA has been recognised for the calibre of her mahi and promoted within the organisation. We're now looking for our next superstar to step in and carry that forward.

The DCE's work spans eight business units — health, education, employment, social services, housing, culture, and more — across four sites, with significant investment and governance responsibilities running alongside. The pace is real and the work is complex. Your job is to make sure none of it falls through the cracks.

You'll triage, anticipate, and act. You'll be the first interface into the DCE's office — trusted by the leadership team, known by the whānau, and relied upon to hold things together when the pressure is on.

Ngā kawenga | What you'll be doing

Managing the DCE's calendar, correspondence, and meeting preparation

Triaging queries and knowing what can wait and what can't

HR administration — contracts, onboarding, offboarding, recruitment coordination

Event and AGM support, including logistics and documentation

Supporting the tribal registry and policy renewal schedule

Being the first interface for the DCE's office — with staff, whānau, and external partners

You're organised to a fault. You're tech-savvy — comfortable across the Microsoft Office suite, Canva, and open to using AI tools to work faster and better. You understand that in an iwi context, relationships are everything, and you know how to hold that with care.

You don't need to have the full EA title on your CV. What matters is that you have the wiring — the initiative, the discretion, the ability to read a room and act on it. If you've been doing this kind of work without the title, we want to hear from you.

Value alignment is non-negotiable. You understand what it means to serve your people. You've got resilience, because this environment moves fast and the challenges are real. And you've got heart, because that's what keeps you going when it does.

  • genuine flexibility

  • life insurance
  • TRONIT supports professional development, and that commitment is real.

And you'll be doing mahi that matters — for your people, and for the generations that follow.
