You will advise employers and employees, draft contracts and workplace policies, handle disputes up to High Court level, conduct investigations, and deliver training to HR professionals, helping build a reputation for fair, productive workplaces

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with at least 5 years in Employment Law.
• In-depth knowledge of South African labour legislation and case law.
• Proven experience in dispute resolution, including CCMA representation.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to provide practical and strategic advice to clients.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on compliance with labour laws (BCEA, LRA, EEA, OH&S).
• Represent employers and employees in disputes (CCMA, Bargaining Council, High Court).
• Draft and update employment contracts, policies, and disciplinary procedures.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Employment Law Specialist to join their established practice in Queenstown . This role focuses on providing expert legal advice and representation on all aspects of South African employment law, including labour disputes, compliance, employment contracts, and workplace policies. You will advise businesses on navigating complex labour relations, minimizing legal risks, and fostering positive employee relations. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the Labour Relations Act, BCEA, and other relevant legislation, coupled with strong advocacy skills and a commitment to providing practical, effective solutions to clients, contributing to fair and productive workplaces within the Eastern Cape.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise clients on compliance with South African labour laws, including the BCEA, LRA, EEA, and OH&S Act.
• Represent employers and employees in disputes, including CCMA and Bargaining Council proceedings, and High Court litigation.
• Draft, review, and update employment contracts, policies, and disciplinary procedures.
• Provide counsel on recruitment, termination, retrenchment, and performance management processes.
• Conduct workplace investigations and assist in disciplinary hearings.
• Deliver training on employment law topics to clients and HR professionals.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with a minimum of 5 years of experience exclusively in Employment Law.
