Job summary

Excel Refrigeration & Air Conditioning seeks a qualified Electrician to join the Whanganui team. The role is hands-on and involves work across refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, with opportunities to develop skills beyond traditional electrical tasks.

You will perform electrical servicing and fault finding, install and upgrade systems, and provide customers with professional technical service, while applying safe work practices and collaborating with the wider team.

Qualifications

• Qualified electrician with NZ registration/licensing
• Interest or knowledge in HVACR
• Ability to work with PLC/automation control
• Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving approach

Excel Refrigeration & Air Conditioning is looking for a qualified Electrician to join our Whanganui team. This is a varied, hands‑on role where you’ll work across our wider refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air conditioning business.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys being on the tools, is mechanically minded and is keen to build their knowledge across different areas of the industry.

The Role

• Electrical servicing and fault finding
• Working across refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems
• Working with PLC/automation control
• Filter cleaning and general maintenance
• Machinery and industrial equipment
• Installation, commissioning and system upgrades
• Troubleshooting and breakdown response
• Providing customers with professional, responsive technical service

What We’re Looking For

You will be a qualified electrician who enjoys variety and wants to develop your skills beyond a traditional electrical role. To be successful, you’ll have:

• A recognised electrical qualification and current NZ electrical registration/licensing
• A basic understanding, or interest in heating, ventilation and air conditioning
• The ability to work with PLC/automation control
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a practical, problem‑solving approach
• A flexible attitude and willingness to get involved
• Pride in delivering quality work and working safely
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A full New Zealand Driver Licence and permanent NZ work rights
