Job summary

Excel Refrigeration & Air Conditioning is expanding in Dunedin and seeks an experienced Refrigeration Technician. You will work across commercial and industrial environments, covering preventative maintenance, servicing, fault-finding, repairs and installations.

The role offers variety and opportunities to grow with the team. You will bring NZQA Level 4 Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, an EST Practising Licence, a refrigerant handling ticket, and a NZ driver license.

Qualifications

• NZQA Level 4 qualification in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning.
• Current EST Practising Licence.
• Approved Refrigerant Handling Ticket.
• Full New Zealand driver licence.
• Excellent communication and client service skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining commercial and industrial refrigeration systems.
• Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs.
• Planned preventative maintenance and reactive service work.
• Refrigeration repairs, upgrades and installations.
• Fault-finding and practical problem-solving.
• Completing service documentation and work orders using modern technology.
• Building strong relationships with customers and providing professional service.
• Maintaining high standards of health and safety.
• Supporting apprentices and other team members when required.
• Participating in on-call and overtime work as required.

We’re looking for someone who is technically capable, customer-focused and takes pride in getting the job done properly.
Ideally, you’ll bring:

• Proven experience in commercial or industrial refrigeration
• Strong refrigeration fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• NZQA Level 4 qualification in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
• Current Electrical Service Technician (EST) Practising Licence
• Approved Refrigerant Handling (Filler’s) Ticket
• Full New Zealand driver licence
• Excellent communication and client service skills
• The ability to work confidently on your own while contributing to a wider team
• A solutions-focused approach to your work
