Job summary

Excel Refrigeration & Air Conditioning is expanding in Dunedin and seeks an experienced Refrigeration Technician to join our growing team. You will service commercial, industrial, and transport refrigeration systems, diagnose faults, perform repairs, and install upgrades while ensuring safety standards.

You will complete service documentation with modern tools, build strong client relationships, and contribute to the ongoing development of our Dunedin operation.

Qualifications

• NZQA Level 4 Refrigeration & Air Conditioning required.
• EST Practising Licence required.
• Approved Refrigerant Handling (Filler’s) Ticket essential.
• Full NZ driver licence required.
• Excellent communication and client service skills expected.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining commercial and industrial refrigeration systems.
• Diagnosing faults and performing repairs.
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive service work.
• Installing upgrades and new installations.
• Fault-finding and practical problem-solving on-site.
• Completing service paperwork using modern technology.

Build your career with Excel Refrigeration & Air Conditioning as we establish our presence in Dunedin. We’re looking for an experienced Refrigeration Technician to join our growing team and play an important role in building our Dunedin operation.

You’ll work across a diverse range of commercial and industrial refrigeration environments, with a varied workload spanning preventative maintenance, servicing, fault-finding, repairs and installations. As the team grows, there will be plenty of opportunity to develop your skills, take on responsibility and grow with the business.

The Role

Working as part of our Dunedin team, you’ll be responsible for delivering reliable, high-quality refrigeration services to our customers.

Your day-to-day work will include:

• Servicing and maintaining commercial, industrial and transport refrigeration systems


• Diagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs


• Planned preventative maintenance and reactive service work


• Refrigeration repairs, upgrades and installations


• Fault-finding and practical problem-solving


• Completing service documentation and work orders using modern technology


• Building strong relationships with customers and providing professional service


• Maintaining high standards of health and safety


• Supporting apprentices and other team members when required


• Participating in on-call and overtime work as required

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who is technically capable, customer-focused and takes pride in getting the job done properly.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• Proven experience in commercial or industrial refrigeration


• Strong refrigeration fault-finding and diagnostic skills


• NZQA Level 4 qualification in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning


• Current Electrical Service Technician (EST) Practising Licence


• Approved Refrigerant Handling (Filler’s) Ticket


• Full New Zealand driver licence


• Excellent communication and client service skills


• The ability to work confidently on your own while contributing to a wider team
