The Role

We’re looking for a hands‑on and people‑first Duty Manager to join our Front Office team at Rydges Wellington. Reporting to the Front Office Manager, you’ll oversee the day‑to‑day running of the hotel in the absence of senior leadership, ensuring seamless operations, exceptional guest experiences, and a safe, well‑run environment at all times.

You’ll be the face of the hotel during your shift – leading from the front, supporting your team, and stepping in wherever needed to deliver a consistently high standard of service.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the hotel on shift in the absence of the General Manager, acting as the key decision maker and hotel ambassador
• Oversee Front Office operations while supporting wider departments to ensure seamless daily performance
• Deliver exceptional guest experiences, including smooth arrivals, departures, VIP and group stays
• Manage guest feedback and resolve issues promptly, maintaining a professional and solutions‑focused approach
• Drive a strong service culture, ensuring brand standards, presentation and team performance are consistently met
• Monitor hotel safety, security, reporting and operational controls while supporting rostering, labour use and revenue optimisation

What You’ll Bring

• Previous experience in a Duty Manager or Front Office leadership role within a hotel environment
• Strong understanding of hotel operations, including Front Office, guest services and revenue principles
• Proven ability to lead teams on shift, particularly in a fast‑paced environment
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships across teams
• Confidence in handling guest feedback, complaints and complex situations
• Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills
• Knowledge of hotel systems and operational procedures (Opera Cloud)
• A commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences every time
