Rydges Wellington, part of EVT, is seeking a hands-on Duty Manager to join our Front Office team. You’ll oversee day-to-day hotel operations in the absence of senior leadership, ensure seamless guest experiences, and uphold safety and service standards.

• Previous experience as Duty Manager or Front Office leader in a hotel.
• Strong understanding of hotel operations and revenue principles.
• Proven ability to lead teams on shift in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building across teams.
• Ability to handle guest feedback and complex situations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Front Office operations while supporting wider departments to ensure seamless daily performance.
• Deliver exceptional guest experiences, including smooth arrivals, departures, VIP and group stays.
• Manage guest feedback and resolve issues promptly, maintaining a professional and solutions-focused approach.
• Drive a strong service culture, ensuring brand standards, presentation and team performance are consistently met.
• Monitor hotel safety, security, reporting and operational controls while supporting rostering, labour use and revenue optimisation.

The Role

We’re looking for a hands-on and people-first Duty Manager to join our Front Office team at Rydges Wellington. Reporting to the Front Office Manager, you’ll oversee the day-to-day running of the hotel in the absence of senior leadership, ensuring seamless operations, exceptional guest experiences, and a safe, well-run environment at all times.

You’ll be the face of the hotel during your shift - leading from the front, supporting your team, and stepping in wherever needed to deliver a consistently high standard of service.

What You’ll Bring

• Previous experience in a Duty Manager or Front Office leadership role within a hotel environment
• Strong understanding of hotel operations, including Front Office, guest services and revenue principles
• Proven ability to lead teams on shift, particularly in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships across teams
• Confidence in handling guest feedback, complaints and complex situations
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of hotel systems and operational procedures (Opera Cloud)
• A commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences every time
