Fast Freight Transport Ltd is seeking an experienced and motivated Business Development Manager to support the continued growth and development of its transport and freight operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing relationships with customers, increasing freight and transport services, and implementing strategies to strengthen the company's market position. This role involves travelling for business purposes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful applicant may be required to:

  • Develop and implement effective business development strategies to identify, develop, evaluate, and pursue new freight, transport, and logistics opportunities.
  • Identify potential customers requiring freight transportation, delivery, logistics, and related transport services.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospective commercial customers and business accounts.
  • Research the transport and freight market to identify emerging opportunities, customer requirements, and areas for business growth.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers, suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Promote Fast Freight Transport Ltd's transport and freight services to new and existing customers.
  • Develop and deliver presentations and proposals to prospective clients outlining the company's transport capabilities, services, and solutions.
  • Prepare quotations, service proposals, and commercial information for prospective customers in consultation with management.
  • Negotiate service arrangements and assist management with developing commercially viable transport solutions.
  • Develop strategies to increase freight volumes, customer accounts, and overall revenue.
  • Identify opportunities to expand transport services into new geographic areas and customer markets in line with the company's business operations.
  • Monitor customer requirements and work with the transport operations team to ensure services are delivered efficiently and in accordance with agreed arrangements.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers regarding freight requirements, service performance, delivery schedules, and any issues that may arise.
  • Respond promptly to customer and stakeholder queries, complaints, and service issues and work towards effective solutions.
  • Develop customer retention strategies to maintain long-term business relationships and encourage repeat business.
  • Gather market intelligence relating to competitors, freight rates, customer demand, transport trends, and potential business opportunities.
  • Monitor sales and business development performance against agreed targets and provide recommendations to management.
  • Prepare regular sales, customer, business development, and service reports for management.
  • Conduct or participate in regular meetings with management and relevant team members to review business performance, customer requirements, and future opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with drivers, dispatch staff, operations staff, and management to ensure customer requirements are understood and appropriately communicated.
  • Explore new transport, freight, delivery, and logistics opportunities and provide management with feasibility assessments and recommendations.
  • Assist in developing marketing and promotional strategies to increase awareness of the company's transport and freight services.
  • Develop business materials, presentations, promotional information, and other content to promote the company's services to potential customers and stakeholders.
  • Attend industry meetings, networking events, customer meetings, and other business events as required.
  • Travel may be required throughout Auckland and other parts of New Zealand depending on business requirements, including occasional weekend work for industry or customer events.
  • Support management in identifying opportunities to improve customer service, operational efficiency, and business growth.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer contacts, leads, opportunities, proposals, and business development activities.
  • Ensure all business development activities are undertaken professionally and in accordance with company policies and applicable New Zealand requirements.
  • Have a good work ethic, be a team player,Flexible with work timing.
  • Have no criminal convictions and be willing to do a drug test if required.
  • Be punctual, reliable, have a can-do attitude and be willing to get the job done.
Qualifications or Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher qualification
