Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

This is a unique opportunity to work closely with the owner of a small group of businesses across construction, property and other developing ventures.

The primary focus of this role is helping bring organisation, structure and follow-through to the day-to-day running of the businesses with a hands on approach.

You'll assist with administration, reporting, financial information, systems and general business coordination, helping ensure important tasks don't get missed and opportunities are followed through.

Because we are involved in several different businesses, this role will suit someone who enjoys variety and learning new things. While the core of the role is business support and organisation, there will also be opportunities to get involved in practical areas of the businesses - such as helping develop the compact crane business, speaking with potential customers, assisting with marketing and ideally learning to operate machinery like the compact crane.

This is not a traditional office role. It is a chance to work closely with a business owner, gain exposure to how businesses are built and improved, and play an important part in helping turn ideas into reality.

Key responsibilities
  • Managing day-to-day business administration and organisation.
  • Assisting with financial administration, reporting and spreadsheets.
  • Helping prepare information for business reviews and decision-making.
  • Creating and improving systems and processes.
  • Following up tasks, projects and opportunities.
  • Researching suppliers, products and new business opportunities.
  • Assisting with customer enquiries and business development.
  • Supporting marketing and sales activities when required.
  • Helping with the growth of the compact crane business, including customer outreach and job coordination.
  • Assisting with practical tasks and machinery where appropriate.
About you

We're looking for someone who enjoys creating order, solving problems and making things happen.

You are someone who:

  • Is organised and reliable.
  • Enjoys numbers, spreadsheets and improving systems.
  • Takes ownership and follows things through.
  • Communicates well and is comfortable dealing with different people.
  • Is curious and enjoys learning about business.
  • Is happy working across different types of tasks.
  • Has a practical attitude and is willing to help wherever needed.

Experience in administration, business, finance, sales or operations would be helpful, but the most important thing is attitude, initiative and a willingness to learn.

Experience with machinery or construction is a bonus, but not essential.
