Job summary

Smith&Smith Otago Hub is seeking a Branch Manager to lead a skilled autoglass team across Dunedin and Oamaru. You will drive daily operations, champion service excellence, and foster a culture of safety, collaboration and growth.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in autoglass or similar customer-facing roles, proven leadership, and hands-on readiness to support customers and staff. A NZ driver’s licence and valid work rights are essential.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years’ experience as an autoglass technician, including repair, replacement, and ADAS recalibration — or equivalent in ops/customer service.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a fast-paced environment with multiple direct reports.
  • Team-building experience with diverse skills to achieve goals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with actionable steps.
  • Knowledge of Safety, Health and Wellbeing practices aligned to policy.
  • Excellent communication for team and customers.
  • Commercial awareness of industry trends to drive success.
  • Hands-on when required to serve customers and support the team.
  • Must lift over 25kg repetitively and be physically capable.
  • Clean, full New Zealand driver’s licence.
  • Unrestricted rights to work in New Zealand.
  • Willing to complete a drug and alcohol pre-employment test.

About the role – Branch Manager at Smith&Smith® - Otago Hub

Location: Smith&Smith Otago Hub - includes branches in Dunedin and Oamaru

Hours: 40 hours per week, rostered across Monday – Sunday

About You:

You’re an experienced professional with a strong background in autoglass or a related customer-facing operational role.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • At least 3 years’ experience as an autoglass technician, including repair, replacement, and ADAS recalibration — or equivalent experience in an operational or customer service role within the autoglass or similar trade-based industry.
  • Demonstrated successful Leadership capability from a fast-paced environment with multiple direct reports
  • Team-building experience, with a focus on leveraging diverse skills and perspectives to achieve shared goals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex issues into clear, actionable steps.
  • A solid understanding of Safety, Health, and Wellbeing practices, with a track record of applying them effectively in line with company policies.
  • Excellent communication skills, ensuring clarity, collaboration, and a shared understanding across your team and with customers.
  • Commercial awareness, using your knowledge of the industry and market trends to help drive business success.
  • Prepared to be hands on when required to serve customers and support your team.
  • You’ll need to have a high level of physical fitness and able to lift over 25kg repetitively to do that.
  • A clean, full New Zealand driver’s licence.
  • Unrestricted rights to work in New Zealand.
  • Must be willing to complete a drug and alcohol pre-employment test as part of our selection process.
