Job summary

Harts Chartered Accountants & Business Advisors in East Tamaki, Auckland, is seeking an experienced BAS Accountant to join our team. The role involves managing a diverse portfolio across entities, delivering compliance and advisory services, and supporting client growth.

You will report to partners, work directly with clients, and leverage Xero/MYOB and Excel to prepare financial statements, GST, PAYE, and tax returns, with opportunities for development and long-term career progression.

Qualifications

• CA qualified with at least 5 years post-CA experience.
• Experience handling a portfolio of clients across entities and industries.
• Proficient in Xero and MYOB; strong Excel skills.
• Knowledge of GST and tax compliance.

Our Chartered Accounting firm is based in busy East Tamaki. We are seeking to add an experienced versatile BAS Accountant to be part of our successful team.

This BAS role has large potential for development, client exposure and building a long-term career within our firm. You will be managing a portfolio range across different entities and industries assisting them with compliance and advisory needs.

You will report directly to partners with a strong team of senior professionals to share knowledge and support career development while increasing your client-facing and technical skills.

The role requires a can-do attitude and the ability to move from client to client with ease.

We are seeking an Accountant who has had at least 5 years previous experience in a Chartered Accountant’s office to a senior level dealing with a variety of clients.

This would include a range of skills from managing key client accounts, software support (Xero and MYOB), payroll, forecasting, GST, preparation of financial statements and various taxation returns.

Our ideal candidate will:

• CA qualified professional with a minimum of 5+ years post CA experience
• Excellent communication skills able to interpret financial results
• Sound knowledge of accounting aspects, reporting standards, management reporting and tax regulations
• Be up to date with taxation laws & practice standards
• Be experienced in the preparation of financial statements
• Be able to prepare PAYE, Income tax and GST returns
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to interact with clients on a daily basis
• Have strong general systems and Xero, MYOBAO, MYOB, and Excel knowledge
• Able to draw on your technical experience to resolve issues
