Job summary

Percival Street Bakery in Rangiora, part of Cartwright Catering Group, is seeking a friendly Bakery Assistant for a flexible part-time role.

You'll help with espresso coffee, serving customers, bakery sales, cleaning, and occasional deliveries. The position offers weekday and Saturday shifts with Sundays closed. No formal barista experience required, but hospitality experience is an advantage.

Qualifications

• Experience in hospitality or cafe environment is preferred.
• Barista experience is an advantage but not essential.
• Able to lift 10–15 kg when required and work in a fast-paced setting.
• Willingness to learn and provide friendly customer service.

Responsibilities

• Preparing quality espresso coffee (not essential but welcomed).
• Serving customers and processing payments.
• Assisting with bakery sales and food service.
• Clearing tables and maintaining a clean environment.
• Washing dishes and general cleaning duties.
• Occasional delivery driving and other duties as required.

About the Role

This is a part-time position (minimum 14 hours per week), offering flexibility to work alongside study or other commitments. The roster includes:

• Monday: Regular shift
• Saturday: Regular shift
• Additional weekday shifts as required to cover planned annual leave or sick days

The bakery is closed on Sundays, Public Holidays, and over the Christmas/New Year period, providing a great work-life balance.

As part of our small, supportive team, you'll enjoy a varied role that includes:

• Preparing quality espresso coffee (not essential skill)
• Serving customers and processing payments
• Assisting with bakery sales and food service
• Clearing tables and maintaining a clean environment
• Washing dishes and general cleaning duties
• Occasional delivery drivingOther duties as required

You’ll be someone who:

• Barista or hospitality experience is an advantage, but a willingness to learn is just as important.
