Job summary

New World Papakura is seeking a Bakery Assistant Manager to lead the bakery team daily, driving KPI achievement and delivering an outstanding customer experience. You will help with staffing, stock control, and training, and ensure the department operates smoothly.

Applicants must have bakery or kitchen experience, and leadership at an assistant manager or supervisor level is ideal. A clean driver’s license and right to work in New Zealand are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a commercial bakery or kitchen is a MUST.
• Previously lead a team at an Assistant Manager or Supervisor level is ideal.
• Good basic math skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels.
• Hold a clean driver's license.
• Right to work in New Zealand.

Responsibilities

• As a Bakery Assistant Manager, you're supporting leading the bakery team daily to achieve departmental KPI’s, make customer driven decisions and support the team in delivering an outstanding customer experience.
• Assist in ensuring sales and GP targets for the department are met or exceeded and that wage costs are controlled appropriately; monitor sales and create opportunities to increase on last year.
• Maintain 100% price integrity in the department and ensure all machinery is maintained regularly.
• Assist in ordering for the department through effective use of in-store purchasing systems; match range to format and customer service needs; carry out stocktakes when required.
• Support in controlling all department costs, manage credits, roster to maintain adequate staff levels, and keep wage targets in line.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Bakery Assistant Manager, you're supporting leading the bakery team daily to achieve departmental KPI’s, make customer driven decisions and support the team in delivering an outstanding customer experience. You will also be responsible for:

• Assist in ensure sales and GP targets for the department are met or exceeded and that wage costs are controlled appropriately. Monitor sales and create opportunities to increase on last year. Maintain 100% price integrity in the department.
• Ensure all machinery in the department is maintained on a regular basis.
• Assist in ordering for department through effective use of the in-store purchasing systems. Ensure range matches the format and customer service requirements whilst optimizing stock holding levels and stock turn. Participate in carrying out stocktakes where required.
• Support in controlling all department costs. Manage credits in a timely and tidy fashion to minimize waste and reduce loss. Roster to always ensure adequate staff levels, keeping in line with wage percentage targets.
• Assist in recruitment of all team members into the department.
• Ensure all team members receive an appropriate induction / orientation to the department and receive appropriate ongoing training support. Train the team members as required.
• Assisting in department cleaning where necessary
• Support the department in complying with our food control plan and health and safety programme
