Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Telephone Operator for Nelson Hospital. You will be part of a busy 24/7 call centre, answering incoming calls, providing after-hours reception support, and assisting staff and the public while remaining calm under pressure.

The role offers day, evening and night shifts with flexibility to cover staff leave and illness. You will be part of a team focused on delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Previous administration or customer service experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Previous switchboard experience would be advantageous but training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide a 24/7 telephone communication service for Nelson Hospital.
• Answer incoming calls and provide after-hours reception support.
• Assist staff and members of the public and respond to emergencies.
• Work in a busy call centre with day, evening and night shifts.
