Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Senior Back-end Engineer (PHP/Node.js) for a fully remote position covering the Netherlands and broader EMEA. You will design, develop, and deploy scalable back-end systems for high-load commerce platforms while collaborating with product managers and cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes ownership, architectural work (DDD, CQRS), and continuous improvement, with modern tooling and AI-assisted development practices. Strong English communication is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional back-end development experience.
• Proficiency in PHP or Node.js and willingness to develop the other.
• Experience with high-load architectures and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of SOLID, TDD, CI/CD, Agile, automated testing.
• Experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis; with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable back-end software.
• Contribute to the development of commerce solutions for high-load, distributed environments.
• Take ownership of technical initiatives from design through delivery.
• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Apply Domain-Driven Design, CQRS, and distributed patterns to build maintainable services.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging, and pair programming.
• Identify and prioritize bugs and performance issues, optimizing system quality.
• Monitor and optimize performance and reliability of applications.
