Job summary

Jobgether, on behalf of a partner company, is seeking a Backend QA Engineer based in the Netherlands. You will own quality across a high-traffic backend platform, combining manual testing with automation to validate APIs, data, and event-driven services.

This fully remote role offers meaningful ownership in a fast-growing tech environment. You will work with engineers and stakeholders to prevent production issues, test REST and gRPC APIs, perform SQL data validation, and verify message brokers

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional manual testing experience.
• Strong focus on backend services, APIs and distributed systems.
• Proficient in writing intermediate SQL queries for validating data.
• Hands-on API testing experience with Postman; familiarity with test management tools.
• Ability to read Go code and write or extend automated tests in Go.
• Experience with Docker and testing services locally.

Responsibilities

• Design comprehensive test cases, scenarios and coverage strategies.
• Perform end-to-end testing of transaction lifecycles and data flows.
• Explore edge cases and risks not covered by specs.
• Validate data accuracy across services using SQL queries against PostgreSQL/MySQL.
• Test REST and gRPC APIs; verify error handling and edge cases.
• Verify event-driven workflows across Kafka, RabbitMQ, and NATS.
• Write/extend automated regression tests in Go; collaborate with developers.
• Log and manage defects in Jira; provide clear reproduction steps.
• Execute regression testing after deployments and improve QA processes.
• Contribute to automation coverage and testing efficiency across the platform.
