Job summary
Jobgether is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager based in the Netherlands to lead engineering teams building AI-powered data connectivity solutions. You will blend people leadership, technical judgment, and delivery discipline to shape priorities, tech direction, and team structures while enabling a shift-left model in discovery and design.
You will also mentor senior engineers and emerging leaders, improve delivery practices, manage cross-team dependencies, and ensure reliability through SLOs
Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience in enterprise or SaaS environments
- 4+ years of engineering management experience leading teams
- Experience leading multiple teams or initiatives with multiple stakeholders
- Ownership of execution including planning, prioritization, dependencies, risks, and process improvements
- Experience partnering with senior engineering and product leaders on priorities and strategy
- Production services ownership including on-call, SLOs, incidents, and postmortems
- Experience in collaborative discovery, requirements, solutioning, and delivery
- Strong technical judgment to guide design decisions and empower engineers
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management across cross-functional teams
- Cloud native deployments with Azure or similar platforms
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools and workflows
- Recent hands-on coding experience preferred
- Kubernetes and container orchestration familiarity a plus
- React framework experience a plus
- Microservice architectures for distributed systems a plus
- Bachelor-level or equivalent experience in CS/Engineering or related field
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop engineering teams with coaching, feedback, performance management, and career development
- Grow senior engineers and emerging leaders; empower ownership from discovery to implementation
- Support hiring, onboarding and talent development; address capability gaps
- Own execution and delivery across teams; manage priorities, risks, and commitments
- Improve engineering operating practices, planning, backlog readiness, and delivery metrics
- Resolve cross-team dependencies and systemic delivery issues with leadership
- Use metrics to identify trends, improve execution and inform decisions
- Communicate progress, risks, and resource needs to leadership and stakeholders
- Provide strong technical leadership aligning decisions with architecture and reliability
- Partner with engineers to evaluate approaches and ensure ownership of architecture
- Maintain hands-on technical engagement to guide complex engineering decisions
- Drive improvements across engineering practices, tooling, and ways of working
- Ensure effective on-call ownership and production reliability with proper staffing
- Establish and monitor SLOs and error budgets; act on reliability trends
- Lead incident response and postmortems with corrective actions
- Collaborate with product and cross-functional teams to define problem statements and success criteria
- Champion AI-assisted development practices across planning, ticketing, and development workflows
- Enable discovery participation and translation of business needs into technical work
- Identify opportunities to use AI and automation to boost productivity
