Job summary

Partner company in the Netherlands seeks an Engineering Manager to lead the core platform team for a global SaaS platform. You will own technical direction and delivery while modernizing systems that support critical client workflows, including AI-assisted features and agentic capabilities.

You will balance hands-on coding (20–30%) with strong leadership, working with Product and AI/ML partners to shape multi-quarter strategy, architecture, and roadmaps.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering management experience in remote or distributed teams.
• Hands-on experience writing production code and guiding architecture.
• Experience with AI/LLM powered workflows and agentic features is a plus.
• Strong TypeScript/Node.js, AWS and React capabilities with API design experience.
• Familiarity with GraphQL, Kafka and observability tools is advantageous.
• Excellent English communication and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor engineers, providing technical direction and continuous improvement.
• Own technical direction, architecture, and delivery roadmap for core domains.
• Design and deliver agentic workflows enabling AI systems to plan, execute, and adapt testing.
• Remain hands-on 20–30% of time for production code and critical design work.
• Modernize legacy systems, reduce debt, and improve data models and reliability.
• Define engineering practices, reviews, and delivery quality standards.
• Own production support, triage, and root-cause analysis with permanent fixes.
• Establish SLIs/observability dashboards to improve performance and reliability.
• Maintain security best practices across the SDLC and cloud usage.
• Introduce AI-assisted development and cross-functional collaboration.
• Translate business strategy into a sequenced technical roadmap and deliver outcomes.
