Job summary

Doghouse Recruitment is seeking an Engineering Manager for a software provider that connects IT systems with EDI and IoT capabilities. You will own delivery across the full stack from Java-based networking to Angular UIs, mentor a mixed backend/frontend team, and collaborate with Product Management to align roadmaps with customer value.

This role supports Germany and the Netherlands, with options to work onsite in Amsterdam or Tutzing, or remotely from anywhere in these countries.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software development, with at least 3+ years in an engineering leadership role managing product-focused engineering teams.
• A strong backend engineering background, ideally in Java, with depth to review designs and discuss networking, concurrency, and architecture.
• Frontend awareness (TypeScript, Angular) to support frontend engineers effectively.
• Familiarity with networking and integration space: HTTP/REST, asynchronous messaging (Kafka, AMQP, MQTT), and data integration protocols (AS2, EDI, GraphQL).
• Hands-on AI-augmented engineering mindset, using AI tools to improve team effectiveness.
• Proven stakeholder management skills to translate technical complexity into business value.
• Fluent in English; German or Dutch language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery for your team's domain: planning, prioritisation, quality, and timely releases with Product Management.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a mixed backend/frontend team, supporting career growth and performance.
• Set and maintain high engineering standards across backend (Java, networking) and frontend (TypeScript, Angular).
• Collaborate with Product Managers and leadership to align roadmap with customer value and provide pushback when needed.
• Stay technically close to the codebase to challenge design decisions and represent the domain in cross-functional discussions.
• Shape how AI is used within the team to automate workflows and improve throughput.
• Foster agile practices and ensure smooth, predictable delivery processes.
