Job summary

AIT Worldwide Logistics in Amsterdam is seeking an Operations Agent Gateway (Import/Export) to organize the best means of transporting goods for local and international clients, mainly air, with emphasis on communication and documentation.

You will build relationships with customers and suppliers, plan routes, handle customs, and ensure shipments are tracked and billed according to regulations. 2+ years experience in air freight is preferred; fluent English required.

Qualifications

• Fluent English (oral and written) required.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Proficient with MS Office and PC applications.
• Experience with CargoWise or similar TMS is a plus.
• ITAR, Dangerous Goods or TSA regulations knowledge preferred.
• VGB security clearance or ability to obtain it required.

Responsibilities

• Research and plan the most appropriate route for shipment;
• Obtain, check and prepare documentation to meet customs requirements, packaging specs and compliance with overseas countries’ regulations;
• Liaise with third parties in accordance with customer requirements;
• Assisting the client in the event of claim;
• Maintain visibility and control through all phases of the journey, including the unit cost analysis;
• Complete customs formalities or subcontracting services;
• Prepare files for invoicing;
• Coordinate recovery/delivery schedules with various cartage agents and international partners;
• Partner with local sales and account management teams to communicate problems to customers, international partners, and other stations, as needed;
• Ensure all customers’ SOP instructions are adhered to and AIT KPIs and guidelines are followed and met;
• Ensure all shipments are properly billed within company guidelines and timelines;
• Process and comply with all requirements listed by regulatory agencies;
• Execute all Dangerous Goods shipments in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations;
• Contribute actively to a healthy and secure work environment by reporting unsafe/ unsecure/ unhealthy conditions and possible improvements
