Job summary

Park Plaza Amsterdam Airport offers a Duty Management Intern role, reporting to the Rooms Division Manager. You will work across Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and Maintenance to support daily operations and guest experiences.

This fast-paced environment focuses on leadership, decision-making and problem-solving while contributing to service excellence. You will gain practical management exposure, participate in meetings, and support with projects, audits and training activities.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in Hospitality, Hotel Management, Tourism Management, or related study programme.
• Strong communication skills in English, written and spoken.
• Passion for hospitality and guest experiences.
• Proactive, organised, and eager to learn in a dynamic hotel environment.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and ability to work with multiple departments.

Responsibilities

• Support Rooms Division Manager in overseeing daily operation across Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B and Maintenance.
• Be central contact for operational matters and improve inter-department communication.
• Inspect guest rooms and public areas to maintain standards.
• Assist with guest inquiries, complaints and service recovery.
• Coordinate VIP arrivals and special guest requests.
• Monitor guest satisfaction and act on feedback and reviews.
• Assist with room inventory management and occupancy monitoring.
• Support F&B operations during busy periods and events.
• Coordinate with departments to resolve operational challenges quickly.
• Assist in emergencies and ensure health, safety and security procedures.

As a Duty Management Intern, reporting to the Rooms Division Manager, you play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the hotel. Working across multiple departments, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and Maintenance, you gain hands‑on exposure to hotel management while contributing to operational excellence and exceptional guest experiences. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop leadership, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills within a fast‑paced hospitality environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the Rooms Division Manager in overseeing the daily operation of Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and Maintenance departments


• Act as a central point of contact for operational matters and assist in ensuring effective communication between departments


• Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, restaurants, bars, and back‑of‑house areas to ensure hotel standards are maintained


• Assist with handling guest inquiries, complaints, and service recovery actions to ensure a positive guest experience


• Support the coordination of VIP arrivals, special requests, and guest recognition activities


• Monitor guest satisfaction and follow up on opportunities identified through guest feedback and reviews


• Assist with room inventory management, occupancy monitoring, and room readiness throughout the day


• Support Food & Beverage operations during busy periods, special events, conferences, and group arrivals when required


• Coordinate with Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, and Maintenance teams to resolve operational challenges efficiently


• Assist in managing emergency situations and ensure compliance with health, safety, and security procedures


• Prepare daily operational reports, shift handovers, and management updates


• Participate in departmental and operational meetings, contributing ideas to improve service quality and operational efficiency


• Support managers with projects, audits, training activities, and quality assurance initiatives


• Currently enrolled in a Hospitality, Hotel Management, Tourism Management, or related study programme


• Strong communication skills in English, written and spoken


• Passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences


• Proactive, organised, and eager to learn in a dynamic hotel environment


• Strong problem‑solving abilities and confidence working with multiple departments


• Ability to prioritise tasks and remain calm under pressure in a fast‑paced operational environment


• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high service standards


• Eligible to complete an internship in the Netherlands

Preferred Requirements

• Previous experience or strong interest in hotel operations, rooms division, front office, or guest services


• Leadership potential and willingness to take initiative


• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills


• Interest in operational management and developing cross‑departmental knowledge


• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays when required


• Dutch or any additional language is an advantage
