Job summary

Labuan Shipyard & Engineering Sdn. Bhd. (LSE) is seeking a Welding Engineer to support shipbuilding, ship repair, maritime and oil & gas projects.

You will provide technical support, ensure welding quality and compliance, and coordinate welding activities according to industry standards and project requirements. The role involves developing WPS/PQR, monitoring welding and fabrication activities, and interfacing with Production, Engineering, QA/QC and project teams to resolve welding issues and

• Degree/Diploma in Welding Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Good knowledge of WPS/PQR, welding processes, welder qualification and NDT requirements.
• Familiar with relevant AWS, ASME, API and ISO standards and project specifications.

Responsibilities

Job description

Seeking for a Welding Engineer to support our shipbuilding, ship repair, maritime and oil & gas projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support, ensuring welding quality and compliance and coordinating welding activities in accordance with applicable industry standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, review and implement Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), PQR and welding-related documentation in accordance with applicable codes, standards and project requirements.

Monitor and provide technical support for welding and fabrication activities, ensuring compliance with approved procedures, drawings and quality requirements.

Coordinate with Production, Engineering, QA/QC and project teams to resolve welding-related technical issues and improve work processes.

Monitor welding quality, investigate welding defects and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.

Monitor welder qualifications, welding consumables, welding processes and NDT/inspection requirements.

Ensure all welding activities comply with applicable AWS, ASME, API, ISO, HSE and Company requirements.

Requirements

Degree/Diploma in Welding Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in welding engineering, fabrication, shipbuilding, ship repair, or oil & gas.

CSWIP Welding Inspector certification or equivalent welding qualification is preferred/required.

Good knowledge of WPS/PQR, welding processes, welder qualification and NDT requirements.

Familiar with relevant AWS, ASME, API and ISO standards and project specifications.

Strong technical, problem-solving and communication skills, with willingness to work in Labuan.
