Job summary

AME Construction Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Welding Engineer to join our team in Malaysia. You will develop and approve welding procedures, review welder qualifications, and ensure compliance with AWS, ASME, and ISO standards across fabrication and site erection.

You will coordinate with Engineering, QA/QC, and third-party inspectors, monitor welding activities and non-destructive testing, and provide guidance to welders and supervision to achieve project quality and schedule objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Welding, Mechanical, Materials, Metallurgical Engineering or related field.
• 1–5 years of welding engineering experience in steel fabrication or construction projects.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME IX, ISO 15614, ISO 9606 and related welding standards.
• Familiarity with SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW and NDT methods.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and approve WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records per AWS/ASME/ISO.
• Ensure welding activities meet quality standards during fabrication and site erection.
• Monitor weld preparation, welding parameters, consumable control, and post-weld requirements.
• Coordinate welding inspections and NDT (VT, MT, PT, UT, RT).
• Investigate welding defects and perform root cause analysis with corrective actions.
• Maintain welding documentation and quality dossiers.
• Provide technical support and guidance to welders, supervisors, and QA/QC teams.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Production, QA/QC, Clients, and third-party inspectors.

What You’ll Do:

• Maintain welding documentation, including weld maps, logs, qualification records, inspection reports, and quality dossiers.
• Provide technical support and guidance to welders, supervisors, and QA/QC teams.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Production, QA/QC, Clients, and Third-Party Inspectors to achieve project quality and schedule objectives.
• Ensure calibration of welding and inspection equipment and compliance with QMS and HSE requirements.

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Welding, Mechanical, Materials, Metallurgical Engineering, or related discipline.
• 1-5 years of experience in welding engineering, steel structure fabrication, and construction projects.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, ISO 15614, ISO 9606, and related welding standards.
• AWS CWI or CSWIP 3.0 certification is an advantage.
• Familiarity with welding processes (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW), NDT methods, welding metallurgy, and quality control.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering documentation systems.
