Job summary

Labuan Shipyard & Engineering Sdn Bhd is seeking a skilled planner/scheduler to develop and monitor detailed ship repair schedules and resource plans for complex projects. You will coordinate with project teams, track progress, and ensure milestones are met while maintaining quality and HSE standards.

The ideal candidate holds a diploma or bachelor’s in engineering or marine technology, with 3+ years in ship repair or shipyard scheduling and proficiency in scheduling software.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Marine Technology, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in planning or scheduling within a ship repair or shipyard environment.
  • Skilled in scheduling software.
  • Knowledge of flow process & sequences in shipbuilding and ship repair is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed project plans & schedules including work breakdown structure (WBS), timelines and deliverables.
  • Develop job sequencing plans and identify interdependencies between trades and activities.
  • Ensure alignment of schedules with contractual milestones and client expectations.
  • Track actual progress against baseline schedules and update plans accordingly.
  • Analyze variances, critical paths and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain daily/weekly/monthly progress logs and coordinate look-ahead planning.
  • Prepare progress reports, S-curves, man-hour charts and productivity summaries.
  • Ensures the effective implementation of the Quality and HSE management systems in the project processes and interfaces with other functional groups.

Job description
