Job summary

Labuan Shipyard & Engineering Sdn. Bhd. (LSE) is seeking a Welding Engineer to support shipbuilding, ship repair, maritime and oil & gas projects.

You will provide technical support, ensure welding quality and compliance, and coordinate welding activities according to industry standards and project requirements. The role involves developing WPS/PQR, monitoring welding and fabrication activities, and interfacing with Production, Engineering, QA/QC and project teams to resolve welding issues and

Qualifications

• Degree/Diploma in Welding Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Good knowledge of WPS/PQR, welding processes, welder qualification and NDT requirements.
• Familiar with relevant AWS, ASME, API and ISO standards and project specifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review and implement Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), PQR and welding-related documentation.
• Monitor and provide technical support for welding and fabrication activities, ensuring compliance with procedures and quality requirements.
• Coordinate with Production, Engineering, QA/QC and project teams to resolve welding-related issues and improve work processes.
• Monitor welding quality, investigate defects and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor welder qualifications, welding consumables, welding processes and NDT/inspection requirements.
• Ensure all welding activities comply with AWS, ASME, API, ISO and company requirements.
